We are going to place flags 4'x 6' (no impact to the lawn) on Cater Lawn to represent fallen Veterans. Our emphasis is to honor the Iraq War Veterans since 2023 marks the 20th anniversary from of the start of the war. We are also planning on posting small tutorial signs speaking about different milestones of achievement and sacrifice made throughout the war. Think small informational graphics on corrugated plastic. Also honor the 8 Medal of Honor recipients with the citations of they award displayed The event will host volunteers from the AU Veterans Resource Center and Student Veterans.
May 26th: 8:00-11:00 Volunteers from Campus place flags on Cater Lawn. 11:00-11:30 Guest Speaker (Veteran not identified yet, speaks about Memorial day significance). 11:30-12:30: Socialization and engagement.
May 27th- June 1st: Flags are displayed for people on campus to pay respect in a space and time they are comfortable with.
June 2nd: OID/VRC volunteers take down the flags and return Cater Lawn to its original condition.
